Frequently Asked Questions

What is Graphiant?

Graphiant is a Silicon Valley-based provider of next-generation Edge services. The Graphiant Network Edge is an “as-a-Service” solution providing connectivity for the enterprise WAN, hybrid cloud, network edge, customers, and partners. Graphiant’s Network Edge combines MPLS-like performance (guaranteed delivery and privacy) and Internet-class agility to enable network architects to build enterprise-grade networks at the speed of business.

Why is Graphiant the solution for network solvability?

Traditional network models and designs do not solve modern day networking challenges. Businesses are moving at a rapid pace and connectivity to services between enterprises play a major role as IT spend continues to grow even if it is at a slower pace.

Graphiant’s unique solution and architecture provides a private network for businesses to publish applications and services in a marketplace for the consumption of only their private customers over a new WAN network programmable using metadata by APIs.

What is the Graphiant Network Edge?

Graphiant Edge software can run on commercial off-the-shelf hardware, virtual, or cloud platforms that connect the customer edge network to the Graphiant core. It transports and performs encryption and decryption of customer data traffic in the data plane across the core to other Edges and the Internet.

What is SD-WAN?

A Software-defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) is a WAN architecture that allows enterprises to leverage any combination of transport services—including MPLS, LTE and broadband internet services—to securely connect users to applications. Graphiant’s CEO and Founder, Khalid Raza, also known as the “Father of SDWAN” helped create this now billion dollar industry.

Graphiant is the next step solution in helping modern companies to evolve from SD-WAN to Networking but “as-a-Service” model.

Why is Graphiant a Service-Based model?
Business models are changing from a point in time sale to service delivery models that persist throughout the engagement. By providing a service-based model, companies are able to incorporate services based on their needs on a pay-as-you-go structure, where you only use what you need.
How is Graphiant’s solution different compared to traditional SD-WAN?

The challenges of modern day networks are not addressed by traditional network architectures. The network architectures connecting branch offices back to headquarters, or a DC using a private network with overlay or MPLS, causes a lot of backhauling and traffic overhead. The latency, user experience, bandwidth, security and high costs are the results.

Graphiant’s unique innovation and architecture combines the advantages of traditional MPLS, SD-WAN and SRv6 to create a new wide area network that is entirely programmable using metadata by APIs. Graphiant’s marketplace empowers businesses to publish their connected applications and services for private use for their target audience. Businesses can consume existing networks instead of building new infrastructure to support their network or for establishing B2B connectivity.

Is our solution secure/encrypted?

All customer control plane and data plane traffic and connectivity is encrypted end to end between the Edges.

What is the Graphiant Stateless Core?

Graphiant’s Edge devices are connected to Edge Terminators. Graphiant Edge Terminators act as the private core for the connected Edge transporting encrypted customer data traffic between the Edges with standard SLA and QOS. Edge terminators are stateless as no control plane customer specific data are advertised to the core.

How do you deploy a Graphiant solution?
Graphiant Edge software runs on custom hardware, virtual and cloud environments like AWS, and Azure. The Edges are ready to be deployed within a few minutes of booting, the devices are on-boarded and identified through the GCS Portal. GCS Web Portal acts as the single entry point to access, configure, and monitor Graphiant devices.
Can the Graphiant solution be used in cloud platforms like "AWS or Microsoft Azure"?

Yes, you can deploy a virtual machine for example into Microsoft Azure.

How do you manage/operate a Graphiant device?

GCS Web Portal acts as the single entry point to access, configure, and monitor Graphiant devices. The GCS has tunnel connection between Edge and web portal Data is encrypted between the Edge and GCS Web UX interface making it a secure connection.
